Gal Joins “Wreck-It Ralph 2”

Gal Gadot Joins ‘Wreck-It Ralph 2’ Voice Cast

VARIETY – Gal Gadot is ready to break the internet.

The “Wonder Woman” star has joined the voice cast of Disney’s animated “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

The “Fast & Furious” actress revealed Friday on Instagram that she’s getting back behind the wheel and will be playing street racer Shank in the sequel to “Wreck-It Ralph.” It marks her debut role in a Disney animated movie.

“Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her,” she said in a statement. “But as the movie goes on, you realize how fun, wise, and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her.”

The video Gadot posted, along with the image of Shank, teases the plot of the movie, which involves the online racing game “Slaughter Race.”

“She is the coolest character in this world of ‘Slaughter Race,’” director Rich Moore said. “Shank’s lived a lot, she’s seen a lot, yet she’s got nothing but kindness in her heart — that’s the duality of that character.”

John C. Reilly’s titular hero and his friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) meet Shank when they leave Litwak’s Family Fun Center & Arcade in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” Vanellope is later forced to race with Shank, putting her “Sugar Rush” driving skills to the test.

“Wreck-It Ralph” grossed more than $470 million worldwide in 2012 and received an Oscar nomination. Moore helmed from a screenplay by Phil Johnston and “Frozen” co-director Jennifer Lee, based on a story by Moore, Johnston, and Jim Reardon.

“Ralph Breaks the Internet” hits theaters on Nov. 21.

Gal to Star in Hedy Lamarr Series at Showtime

Gal Gadot to Star in Hedy Lamarr Series From ‘The Affair’ Creator at Showtime

VARIETY – Gal Gadot is gearing up to play another wonder woman.

Sources tell Variety that Gadot is near a deal to star in and executive produce a Showtime series based on the life and career of Hedy Lamarr. Lamarr was born in Austria and went on to become one of the most famous American film stars of her generation, appearing in classics like “Samson and Delilah,” “Boom Town,” and “Come Live With Me.” Lamarr was also a celebrated inventor, credited with creating a frequency-hopping signal during World War II that could help the Allies disrupt radio-controlled torpedoes.

The series has not been formally picked up at the premium cabler, but it would be a limited series should the deals become finalized.

Showtime declined to comment.

Sarah Treem, the creator and showrunner on Showtime’s acclaimed drama “The Affair,” would serve as writer and executive producer on the project. Warren Littlefield, executive producer of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Fargo” at FX, would also executive produce. Along with Gadot, her husband, Jaron Varsano, would also executive produce.

Gadot was a model and former Miss Israel before she got into acting, making her debut in 2009’s “Fast & Furious.” She is best known for her portrayal of the DC superhero Wonder Woman. She first played the iconic character in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” before starring in the self-titled “Wonder Woman” film. The latter movie went on to gross over $820 million worldwide. She played the character again in “Justice League” and is currently filming the sequel “Wonder Woman 1984.”

The news also comes shortly after Showtime announced that “The Affair” would return for a fifth and final season. The Season 4 finale will air Aug. 19. The show has received widespread acclaim since its debut, picking up three Golden Globe awards throughout its run. That includes a win for best drama series in 2015 and best actress in a drama series for Ruth Wilson that same year.

Gadot and Treem are both repped by WME. Gadot is also repped by Robert Offer, while Treem is repped by Schreck Rose.

Gal to Star in “Red Notice”

Gal Gadot to Star in Dwayne Johnson’s Action-Comedy ‘Red Notice’

VARIETY – “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot has come on board Dwayne Johnson’s action-comedy “Red Notice,” which will begin shooting in April.

Universal has set a June 12, 2020, release date for “Red Notice.” Johnson is re-teaming with his “Skyscraper” and “Central Intelligence” writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber. The actor plays an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most-wanted art thief in the world.

The film will be produced by the returning “Skyscraper” team, including Beau Flynn for his Flynn Picture Company; Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia for their Seven Bucks Productions; and Thurber for his Bad Version, Inc. Wendy Jacobson will executive produce.

Johnson is expected to get his first $20 million paycheck for the gig. Universal won a bidding war for the project in February in the wake of the surprise success of Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which starred Johnson with Kevin Hart.

Gadot is currently shooting “Wonder Woman 2,” reuniting with director Patty Jenkins with the sequel set for a 2019 release. She recently came on board to produce and potentially star in “My Dearest Fidel,” which is set up at Warner Bros. with Sue Kroll producing.

Gadot is repped by WME.

“Wonder Woman 2” Moves To November 2019

“Wonder Woman 2” Moves To November 2019

Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released earlier than originally announced. The film is set for release on November 1, 2019.

‘Wonder Woman 2’ With Gal Gadot Moves To November 2019

DEADLINE – Warner Bros/DC’s Wonder Woman 2 is going to be released a month and half earlier than originally announced, with a new date set for November 1, 2019. Warner Bros already had that date RSVP’ed on the calendar with an untitled DC movie. Patty Jenkins is on board to direct and Gal Gadot is locked in to reprise her role as the Daughter of Hippolyta.

Previously, Warner Bros announced after San Diego Comic-Con that Wonder Woman 2 was to bow on December 13, 2019. Currently on her new date, Wonder Woman 2 faces zero competition.

And to just clarify: There was some noise online over the weekend that Gadot wouldn’t sign for the sequel unless Brett Ratner’s name was removed from the franchise. We hear this is false. First, Gadot is locked in to star in Wonder Woman 2 and there haven’t been sour talks between the actress and Warner Bros’ upper brass in regard to Ratner. The studio is pushing both Gadot and Jenkins this awards season, and both were in cheery attendance Saturday night at the Movie Academy’s Governors Awards.

Second, RatPac Dune isn’t committed to finance Wonder Woman 2; its commitments with WB end with the April 20 release of Rampage. In addition, Ratner isn’t listed as producer on the first Wonder Woman, as RatPac was merely a passive financier.

Wonder Woman 2 is dated within a week of MGM’s next James Bond film November 8, which Annapurna is very close to handling stateside. There’s a big battle for overseas distribution among Sony, Universal and Warner Bros for the franchise, and the new dating of Wonder Woman 2 raises questions whether WB remains in the mix to handle foreign.

Wonder Woman was the highest-grossing movie of the summer stateside with $412.6 million. The pic repped the best opening ever for a live-action film by a female director ($103.2M stateside) as well as the best worldwide ($821.8M).

This weekend we’ll see Gadot again as Wonder Woman in Justice League, which industry estimates project will clear $100M-$120M stateside in another win for DC on the big screen.
